POST: Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer
HOURS: 17 hours per week, working pattern to be agreed
SALARY: NJC Scale LC1 published 1 April 2019
(£17,972 to £23,111 per annum pro rata – depending on experience and qualifications)
The council is seeking a Parish Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer to manage and administer the activities of the council. The parish is located close to the border with South Derbyshire.
Applicants should have some experience of administration and management of finances with a commitment to undertake the responsibilities of this key role. You will be working with councillors, members of the public as well as a range of other public and community bodies.
You will be organised; keep accurate records, work to deadlines, work on your own initiative, be flexible and have a strong customer service approach with good interpersonal skills.
You will be someone who understands the work of parish councils and its services, a competent administrator with good IT and minute taking skills.
You will be based at Oakthorpe Community Leisure Centre in Oakthorpe and be available to meet with members of the public on a regular basis. The post does include some evening work and occasional weekend work to support events.
You will oversee the management of the council’s services including Oakthorpe Community Leisure Centre with responsibility for the line management of the centre co-ordinator.
It is preferable that the successful candidate will hold or be willing to work towards achieving CILCA (Certificate in Local Council Administration) within one year following appointment. We will also provide other training as necessary to enable you to fulfil all aspects of the role.
